CHARACTER

Name: (Subway Boss) Ingo
True Name: Ingo
Canon: Pokémon (Post-The Curious Tea Party event in Pokémon Masters EX)
Age: General fan consensus tends to be early-mid 30s. I put him at 31-33.
History: General Bulbapedia page, Masters EX-specific page.

Powers/Abilities: No powers on his own aside from screaming really loud, just a funny train man.

Inventory:

☞ His trademark outfit.
☞ His Xtransceiver (it's like a smartphone/smartwatch in one).
☞ A tri-colored pen.
☞ His wallet.
☞ A whistle.
☞ Hand sanitizer.
☞ Probably a pair of handcuffs for unruly passengers.
☞ Two Potions (basic HP restoration item) for Pokémon.

Job History:

  • Pokémon Trainer - In the Pokémon universe, you start out as a trainer at age 10, and most trainers aim to complete the gym challenge by traveling across the region they live in to defeat all eight gym leaders. This journey involves a fair amount of camping outdoors on the way between cities, managing your funds, and is basically like a long-term camping trip all around, with the skills you'd expect from that involved. Of course, raising your Pokémon to grow up strong and healthy is part of the package. As a battler, Ingo tends to favor playing support for his teammates, which often translates into being strategic and changing the battle field conditions or spreading status ailments so Emmet (or whoever else he may team up with) can finish off opponents. Or just spamming Earthquake and taking down everyone else.

  • Subway Boss (current) - A title for an elite Pokémon trainer (one of the best of the best, pretty much) who is in charge of the Unova region's Battle Subway facility. Ingo specializes in the Single Battles ruleset, which pits one Pokémon against another at a time, and the trainer may not carry more than three Pokémon in total. This Single challenge can be attempted at two difficulties: Single and Super Single. However, Ingo will only fight challengers who manage to reach a win streak of 20 (Single) or 48 (Super Single). He can also be challenged on the Multi and Super Multi lines, where he faces challengers together with his twin brother, Emmet. Aside from battling, the Subway Boss title also comes with running Nimbasa City's subway system in its entirety, so he essentially works as a manager of public transport. Said Subway System is automated, which means Ingo acts as an overseer to make sure all systems are running correctly. The Subway Boss twins are both local celebrities and authority figures, so they're involved with all sorts of PR on top of everything else. I also imagine they'd know methods for subduing rowdy passengers.

  • Pokémon Breeder (hobby) - This one is more implied than outright confirmed: Ingo and Emmet do more or less everything as a pair, and one of Emmet's Pokémon knows an Egg Move (moves that a Pokémon can only learn if they're bred from the right parents), which suggests that they breed their Pokémon for Egg Moves and strong stats.

  • Butler (temporary) - Complete with training under a professional butler! He and Emmet acted as butlers for a big tea party event, which also involved thinking up various elaborate riddles for the guests to solve.

  • In short, Ingo has a lot of experience with management, organization, IT, PR, customer service, event planning, safety protocols, and similar areas of work. What you'd expect of a high-ranked civil servant, pretty much!

Suppressions:

  • Personal desires (mostly successful) - Aside from living to serve, being the older brother (even if only by a hair's width) and an authority figure are central aspects of Ingo's identity. This often translates into putting himself last, which, even if Ingo loves his job, means that his more personal wants risk being left to pile up when he prioritizes everything and everyone else above them.

  • Negative emotions (successful) - Being positive, polite, and pleasant are other aspects of Ingo's identity that are very important to him. Whether it's anger, sadness, or some other unpleasant feeling, he generally won't express such things beyond the most surface level if he can. He'll let himself sigh in exasperation, sure, but he'll keep any deeper or more intense negative emotions bottled up for as long as it remains a feasible option. It seems as if he feels pretty averse towards showing that sort of vulnerability. Besides, if people find him intimidating when he's happy, how does he look when he's angry? He can't let himself feel these things too strongly, except in extreme cases.

  • Insecurities (mostly successful) - So, Ingo's entire thing about being inexpressive and coming across as creepy, unpleasant, or off-putting? That's more of a sore spot than he wants to admit beyond mild exasperation. Some of his dialogue implies that he makes a conscious effort to speak loudly so he won't come across as emotionless, which means that he's trying to use his poor volume control as a means of compensating for his near inability to smile. It genuinely saddens him when his feelings don't come across on account of his face.

Greatest Fear: Anything bad happening to Emmet. His Pokémon being hurt. Failing to protect others when they need him, essentially. On a personal level (not involving any other people or Pokémon directly), Ingo fears having no purpose in life, i.e. being useless by his own, very strict, standards.

Greatest Desire: To be of help to others. He says himself that his calling in life is to support others. Ingo wants to be relied upon and provide for people, especially those he holds dear. This is what gives him emotional fulfillment in life.

Greatest Regret: Instances of showing “too much” weakness. He has to be a good big brother and Subway Boss, which means being reliable, peppy, and strong no matter what comes his way. I think he takes it really hard if, by his own moral code, he fails to be someone else's rock in their time of need.
